about

"Richly patterned revelations of familiar songs. The Kettles find new perspectives on standards and mostly forgotten old-timers. The collection captures their good nature, generosity and delight in making old-time music modern."
-Whit-

"The Parlor Is Pleasant On Sunday Night" is the second album from Vermont based old-time music explorers, The Howling Kettles. Jackson Emmer (mandolin, banjo) and Sam Moss (guitar, fiddle) have dusted off ten rusty old gems from the North American songscape and breathed their own particular brand of life into them. These are songs of jubilation, nonsense, yearning, and defeat. Songs that make you jump out to the dance floor, and on occasion, crumble back into your chair.

The album was engineered and mastered by Evan Cory Levine and features artwork by Anneke Dunnington.
